Fundraising Campaign - Building the next 50 years
Thanks to the fantastic response of our parents, we have raised enough money to complete the first phase of our major improvement project "Building the next 50 years". Overall, our parents have provided well over half a million pounds, so a huge 'thank you' to all of our generous donors.
Aylesbury High School has a long and distinguished record of providing a first-class education for girls in and around Buckinghamshire and in 2009/10 we celebrated our 50th anniversary. However, not wanting to rest on our laurels, we recognise that we need to continuously evolve to meet the requirements of the modern world. Therefore, alongside our 50th anniversary year, we launched a campaign to fundraise for a special building project. The first phase of that project is to put up a new building which will house a new, dedicated Sixth Form study area equipped to modern IT standards, alongside the necessary offices and rooms to support the Sixth Form. Above this, on the first floor, will be four full-sized classrooms. Construction has started on this building and it is well on track for its planned completion date in time for the start of term in September 2012.
This new space will unlock areas in the rest of the school for redevelopment - it will act in some ways as a value multiplier. Moving the Sixth Form into a dedicated study area will allow us to relocate the library and create four classrooms. These extra classrooms will, in turn, allow us to knock together some of the too-small Sixth Form teaching rooms into proper classrooms! These follow-on works will constitute either phases two or three depending on how much we can afford to do at once. The added bonus of the modern library is that it will meet our Sixth Form study needs as well as the interactive way we use the library in lessons for research across all year groups.
Overall, the complete works, including furniture and computing equipment, will cost £1,250,000, with phase one costing just over £950,000 all in and ready to occupy.
The next phase depends entirely on further donations, so we need your help now. If we can raise a further £100,000 we can complete the follow-on works in the summer of 2012 too!
