Key Stage 4

At the end of Year 9, students make choices regarding the range of subjects they wish to study in more depth during KS4.  This is an important time for students and Aylesbury High School offers a wide choice of subjects to ensure each girl can work to her strengths.

English and English Literature, Mathematics and Science together with PE,  RE and Citizenship  form the ‘core’ curriculum followed by all.  Students may choose to study Biology, Physics and Chemistry as a triple award or opt to study Double Science.

All students continue with at least one language to GCSE and then may choose from a range of subjects.  It is the school’s principle that a ‘broad and balanced’ curriculum is followed and students must choose a Humanities subject and a Creative Arts and Technology subject to provide this.  We are always seeking to enrich the curriculum and options include some AS level subjects, HPQ awards and leadership opportunities.

Students and parents are guided through the process by an information evening, an Options booklet and individual advice.  Individual subjects prepare detailed information and guidance on the content of courses and assessments.
