The CEOP team will be available to interact with parents and carers from 6 to 9pm on Tuesday 7 February to discuss the challenges they face as their children grow up online by posting on the ClickCEOP Facebook fan page, tweeting @CEOPUK or including #parentsguide in their posts on Twitter.

U19 netball team in national finals

Congratulations to the U19 netball team who became Southern regional champions on Saturday 28 January. We wish them the best of luck at the national finals on 17 March.

Thank you once again to all parents, students and staff who gave us some feedback on the uniform samples at the start of term. As you might expect, the feedback did not show us unequivocally which 'suit' to go for. We have therefore been in talks with one supplier who is going to produce samples of the kind of jacket and skirt most parents, staff and students wanted. To avoid making a mistake by introducinig it too soon before teething troubles have been spotted, we are proposing to trial the uniform with a selection of girls only next year, with a view to its introduction for Year 7 in 2013. Once we have new samples, we will arrange another opportunity for these to be viewed.

Aberdyfi photos

Photos from Aberdyfi week 1 and week 2.

On Saturday 2 December 144 girls in 24 teams took part in the National Finals at Princethorpe College, Rugby. The AHS Inters team was led by Hannah Morton who had come second in the junior girls' race in last year's competition. Over a challenging 1 3/4 mile course, Hannah was in the leading pack and was frequently mentioned by the race commentator. Despite being a year younger than many of the leading pack, Hannah produced an amazing race to achieve 2nd place overall....WOW! She was closely followed home by Year 10 Rosanna Evans who achieved her best placing at national finals to come 19th. This is a tremendous achievement for a non-club runner. The team's determination was fantastic and Sophie Hawkins 90th, Emily Martin 93rd, Anouska Stahlmann 104th and late reserve Kate Reed 133rd achieved 12th place overall. The girls were a credit to the school - congratulations!

Junior (Y7/8) Girls Team - 9th Best Team in the Country

For 5 out of 6 of the team this was their second national finals. The team of 5 year 8's and one year 7 have the potential to target 4 National Finals...no mean feat! After becoming Eastern Region champions, the AHS team were ready to race. The team was lead home by Eliza Taswell Fryer in an impressive 23rd place. Flying in behind her was Charlotte Evans in 37th, who is improving with every race this season. This team like to pack well and they did not disappoint with Georgie Moss 59th, Imogen Andrews 60th and Bronwen Reed 64th. Rebecca Ashworth in 98th completed a fine day at the races. This team have set their standards very high and are already planning their attack on this competition for next season. Many thanks to the reserves and supporters (Marguerite Pope, Jasmine Kowebka, Kate Jenkinson, Helena Rowland) and team coaches Charlie and Tash Cornwell. All the parent supporters and teachers were extremely proud of your efforts on the day. It was a delight to be one of a few schools who had both teams at the finals. Congratulations!

PRESS RELEASE - GCE and GCSE RESULTS 2011

“A really impressive set of results.”

Students at Aylesbury High School had their hard work rewarded as they received their GCSE and A Level exam results.

Over 70% of the GCSEs were awarded A* or A grades and the average points per student were equivalent to a very impressive 10 A* grades. The range of qualifications taken by the students gets broader every year, with 22 Year 11 students gaining A Level grades and the GCSE subjects including six different modern languages. Top performers were Katie Baker, Sophie Brownlee, Farah Chaudhry, Isobel East, Alice Johnstone-Brownlow, Pauline Kaplicz, Rachel Marshall, Alice Swetnam and Helena Walters.

At A Level, 50% of the grades were either A* or As and, despite the concerns in the media about university entrance, our students have gained places this year on some very competitive courses and can be pleased that all those hours of study were worth it. 48 students had no grade lower than an A and special mention must go to Stacey Barry, Lauren Du Plessis, Sorcha Durrant , Abigail Francis, Sioned French, Amy Jarrold and Jessica Redmond who gained A* grades in all their A Level subjects.

Alan Rosen, Headteacher of Aylesbury High School, said, “Congratulations to everyone for their hard work. The results are truly a team effort involving students, teachers, support staff and parents. What is really impressive is how the students manage to produce these results at the same time as doing so much both in and out of school in sport, the arts, supporting charities, going on trips and expeditions, and enjoying themselves as well!”

Our new website!

Welcome to our new website! It's still under construction in places.
